MOTHERS DAY SPECIAL EDITION

Hi Bear Club Members,

With Mothers day fast approaching I thought we would focus this month on something special for all the wonderful mums in recognition of all their hard work and support they provide throughout the year.

Maybe you are looking for a special gift for your mum or if you are a mum yourself then we might have the perfect gift that you can suggest to Hubby or the Kids that they could spoil you with.

This month we are having 2 great events which we will present in 2 separate newsletters.
The first is our huge Mothers Day Doll & Bear Sale starting on May 4th just in time for you to scoop up some of the best bargains on a big selection of beautiful porcelain and vinyl dolls.
But although we are focusing strongly on Dolls this event, it is not all about dolls, we have some great specials on teddies as well for you.

The second event will be starting on May 18th when we will present a special Teddies on Parade featuring the fabulous collectable teddies from leading German Bear Makers Hermann Coburg.

The good, the bad and the cuddly!

NEW DEE GLOSSOP DESIGNS JUST ARRIVED.
These are Artist Bears of distinction, lovingly hand made by one of Australia’s most respected multi award winning bear creators.
After many years of trying to convince Dee Glossop to make some of her beautifully crafted hand made bears for us she finally slowed down in her hectic life to make us a few of her wonderful creations which sold out very quickly when the first designs were presented to our members.

Just arrived are another 10 of her delightful mohair teddies, a great selection of both boys and girls all with their own individual character.
All are 1/1 original hand made bears and no two are ever exactly the same, all come with a certificate of authenticity.

SETTLER BEARS SEASON ELEVEN part 2 just arrived

The ever popular Settler Bear company has just released the second part of their 2010 season 11 collection featuring more great themed ranges and over 120 new bears all delightfully dressed in the country style we have come to love from Settler Bears.

Lots of lace, pretty ribbons, hats and pretty dresses make the girls adorable whilst the boys are just that, little boys that steal your heart and just want to be hugged.

Many members will already know that Settler Bears are the leaders in dressed bears in Australia and also in the USA, but how did this come about?
The answer is simple, by drawing on Australia’s own special environment.

Settler Bears originate in a town called Ferntree Gully, a setting similar to Nana’s Teddies’ beautiful Blue Mountains home.
When they create each new collection, the Settler Bears folk are not influenced or limited by what others are doing in the rest of the world.  Instead, their bears simply reflect the beauty around us.

The warmth and colour of our tropical north are captured in the Rockhampton collection, just as the stunning Castlemaine group mirrors the autumn hues of southern Australia.

KEWPIE DOLLS 100 YEARS AND GOING STRONG

Few dolls have made an impact on American Life to rival that of the famous Kewpie doll.
Created in 1909 by Rose O'Neill, Kewpie first appeared in the 1909 Christmas issue of the Ladies Home Journal which featured a story by Rose O'Neill about the Kewpies, complete with plenty of whimsical drawings of the tiny Cupid-like characters in Kewpieville.

Kewpies became a phenomenon.
There were Kewpie comics, Kewpie stories, Kewpie dolls and other Kewpie merchandise.
Its greatest impact was achieved with the introduction of the porcelain bisque dolls and figurines, which were first sold in 1913.
Kewpie has been continuously produced ever since and remains enduringly popular!  2009 marked the 100th Anniversary of Kewpie dolls!

Rose O'Neill was a remarkable turn-of-the century illustrator and artist, as well as a great philanthropist, poet and novelist.
Her Cameo Kewpies could be found battling injustice, promoting women's suffrage and other noble causes.

A TRIBUTE TO SUPER MUMS.

I love hearing kids talking about their lives and the things that they find important.

In particular my two Grandsons Erik 7 and
Kaleb 11 are an endless source of joyful information and an interesting insight as to how children see the world and the people who they interact with.
Super Heroes are a big part of the boys fantasy playtimes and as well as all their favourite cartoon  super heroes they have a few real life idols that could easily stand up alongside Super Man, Batman, Optimus Prime and the Incredible Hulk.

Grandad is right up there at the top of the list along side their Nana but their Mum who is sometimes mistaken for a Villian is the ultimate hero.

These Super Heroes are the most important influences in their lives and like millions of “children” worldwide no matter what age they are now 5 or 50 their mum is invincible.
I found this cartoon on the internet and I share it with you, a tribute to all the mums who are truly Super Heroes.


CHARLIE BEARS 2010 PLUSH COLLECTION UNVEILED!
Charlie Bear collectors world wide are in a flutter with news that the new 2010 plush collection part 1 has been unveiled but although the range is being shown on many web sites including our own the new designs are not available for delivery as yet.

We are able to take pre-orders on them and this is advisable if you see any you like but no firm delivery dates have been set yet as Charlie Bears are still catching up on the backlog from last season.
They are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and all outstanding back orders will hopefully be completed in the next month or so.
If you have been waiting patiently for your new arrivals then the news is good as the long wait is now coming to an end and we will have your long awaited new babies in your arms very soon.

With the new factories and extra staff being trained now this year hopefully will see our new orders filled much more expediently but for the moment if you wish to place pre-orders on the new range you will again have to be patient and wait on delivery which may be a few months away at this stage.

We have placed orders for every new design in the latest 2010 part 1 catalogue but due to huge demand we were only able to obtain a limited quantity of each design.
All the new bears can be seen in the Charlie Bears section of our website.

As for this years Isabelle Collection of Mohair bears we have no firm release date but information to date is that it will not be until later this year , possibly August or September.
