Hi Bear Club Members,
First off this month I would like to thank the many members who have given valuable feedback on our newsletters, as our members who have been with us for many years know we have always looked on our teddy club members as an extended part of our family sharing an interest and a passion for teddy bears that has formed some amazing friendships over the years.
Many of you we have never met in person but through your comments and questions both by E-mail and on the phone we definitely feel you have been a valuable part of the growth and development of our teddy bear business, your interest, support and your sharing of our passion for collecting teddies and animals has helped to make this endeavour so much more than just a business selling bears.
A lot of the feedback and comments I have received in the past 6-12 months have pointed out that our monthly newsletters have become a little less “personal” and more about the special offers on bears and that many of you enjoy my “ramblings” and often pointed views on life and would like to see more about the things that make Nana’s Teddies and the family behind it tick.
So I take on board your comments and will try to include a little more in each newsletter about what is happening behind the scenes for those that are interested and for members who just want the teddy bear news and special offers please skip the next few paragraphs and jump straight to this months specials and events information.
 There is an age old saying that says that to fully enjoy life’s journey one must take time out to smell the roses.
This saying could be applied to almost any task or situation but in our case it is certainly quite appropriate.
Jan and I have been happily married now for 37 years, in this time except for a few short years when our 2 children were tiny we have worked together 7 days a week building our business which really is the hub of our life.
With a hectic work life and fitting in important family and friends time we don’t get much of a chance to take a holiday break generally fitting in the odd week here and there.
 So to celebrate our 37th anniversary on November 2nd I decided to treat us to a short 6 night cruise to the Melbourne Cup on the Pacific Pearl.
Although the break was short we had an amazingly relaxing getaway, we love cruising and find it one of the cheapest ways to have really good holiday.
We spent a lot of time doing nothing, just relaxing in the sun on a deck chair sipping tropical cocktails, we also ate way too much, partied way too late each night and all up had a fantastic time inspite of not winning anything at the races.
  Obviously we are hopeless gamblers as all the horses we backed on the day seemed to have a penchant for running at the back of the field, but not to worry it was an experience being at the Melbourne Cup and being part of the action with over 100,000 people yelling at the horses to run faster, the atmosphere was electric and almost impossible to describe.
We are now back on deck feeling relaxed and revitalised ready for a very busy time with the run up to Christmas, already we are getting quite busy as members have learnt to get in early and avoid the last minute rush, you also get a much better choice as many popular designs run out at this time of year.

The good, the bad and the cuddly!
A CELEBRITY IN OUR MIDST
 As I mentioned briefly in our last news blast Jan appeared on Millionaire Hot Seat last month, we were not able to discuss the results with any one, not even the family until the show went to air.
All we were allowed to do was tell people the date the episode would be on air, they are very strict on this and we both had to sign confidentiality agreements about the shows outcome and content.
Channel 9 flew us down overnight to their studios in Melbourne for the taping, they actually record 5 nights shows all in the one afternoon.
The set is much smaller than it appears on TV but the atmosphere and excitement is really quite electric on set.
Jan obviously was in the HOT SEAT and I was sitting in the audience as her cheer squad, I am not sure which one of us was the more nervous.
 Jan is pretty good with general trivia and enjoys any game involving quizzes, she answered the first couple of questions and then took a “strategic pass” hoping to get back into the Hot Seat at the right time to possible win some money.
So much for strategy, the young fellow in front of her knew one too many answers and she didn’t get back for the big money question.
He didn’t know the answer to the last question and left with the $1000 prize for being last in the chair, the irony is that Jan did know this question and would have won $50,000 if her strategy had panned out.
No matter the outcome she really enjoyed the spotlight and the experience, we have been egging her on to audition for the show for a few years now as she sits at home yelling the answers at the TV particularly when the contestant did not know it and she did.
I am so proud of her for having a go at it and not just being one of those people who never try, it’s one more thing she can now cross off her bucket list.

ARE YOU PROTECTED BY A TEDDY?
Every child knows that when they sleep they can do so soundly when they have a teddy bear looking out for them.
Teddies don’t sleep much when on guard duty and are always there to scare away any monsters that try to disturb your sleep, in fact they are so good at it that you probably will never know just how many monsters teddy has saved you from over the years.
Here is a very brave teddy we found on the internet doing what teddies have done for over a hundred years, protecting the ones that they love, so when you go to bed tonight give your teddy an extra big hug knowing he is looking out for you.

CHARLIE BEARS UPDATE
Last month I mentioned the flood disasters in Thailand that were not only devastating to the Thai people but had resulted in widespread loss of housing and destruction of entire villages.
These floods also disrupted much of Thailand’s trade infrastructure in particular the routines at the shipping ports and the processing and dispatch of shipments.
 The Charlie Bear factories have not been directly affected by the floods but many workers are absent attending to family and the loss of their homes, this includes many of the very skilled workers who are responsible for the delicate hand sculpting and stitching of the bears faces.
This has dramatically impacted on the production schedule and put deliveries even further behind.
Charlie Bears send their sincerest apologies for the delays and are doing all they can to get deliveries back on schedule, they have advised that they have dispatched another large container to Australia which is expected to be here in early December, at this stage I have not been advised which bears are included in this shipment.
Again thank you from us and from the management at Charlie Bears for your understanding and patience, we will get your pre-ordered bears to you as soon as we possibly can.
If you are wanting any Charlie Bears for Christmas don’t leave it to long to order them as they will become quite scarce as we get closer the Christmas, we do have very good stocks at the moment with over 1000 beautiful Mohair and Plush Charlie Bears in stock right now for immediate delivery.
 ARRIVING THIS WEEK
Arriving later this week is a huge shipment of great prams and cradles just in time for Santa to organise them to go under the Christmas tree.
We have lots of designs available to suit most size bear or dolls and even some really big ones that you can put a whole collection of teddies in for display, some designs are perfect gifts for little girls to wheel their favourite bear or doll around in.
