King Louis XIV (1638-1715)
Under the reign of Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King, the French absolutism saw its heyday and became an example for whole Europe.
In 1643 King Louis XIV became King of France after the death of his father Louis XIII.
He met all requirements for a sovereign, working power, cleverness and self-esteem.
He alone wanted to be the state.
With his words “L’Etat c’est moi” – The State, that’s me – he raised the royal absolutism to a dogma.
King Louis XIV got the surname “Roi Soleil” – Sun King – because of his splendid and magnificent royal household specially referring to the Castle Versailles.
He is dressed in a magnificent satin lined and embroidered cape, with lace collar.
The long frill edged sleeves add to picture, as well as the kerchief, adorned with a brooch.
Ludwig xiv is made from quality mohair, with excelsior filling, and with a growler voice.
