1952 – 2022 Ulla’s Birthday Bear was remade based on an original old cutting template
of an old Maheso Standing Bear from 1952

She is hand made in Germany of valuable mohair, stuffing excelsior and with growler voice
with original old glass eyes from the HERMANN archive of the 1950s
Limited Birthday Edition of 70 pieces she stands at 30 cm = 12 inches

A bit about Ulla Hermann

It was on July 10, 1952 when a little girl was born in the toy town of Sonneberg in Thuringia.
The HERMANN family was overjoyed and the old Max Hermann Teddy Bears cheered.
Seven months later, the HERMANN family left their home town of Sonneberg in Eastern Germany only with the baby carriage and Little-Ulla in their luggage and fled to the West via Berlin, which was the last loophole still open at the time.
On February 27, 1953 at 12:30 p.m., the airline Air France took off from West Berlin’s Airport Tempelhof to Nuremberg and from there the family travelled on to Coburg.
The flight tickets from that time are still today owned by the family.
Also “Bébé” Ulla, as it was called on the Air France flight ticket at the time, received its own flight ticket.
In Coburg, just a few kilometers away from the old home but located on the western side of the “Iron Curtain”, the family rebuilt their Teddy Bear production in peace and freedom and Little-Ulla was always there amid of the production activities.
The rural idyll of the Coburg district Cortendorf, where Ulla Hermann grew up, left a lasting impression on her. Last but not least, this finds still today expression in their Teddy Bear designs, for example such as in the “Summer Games” product line.
Already during her study and her doctorate to Dr. rer.pol. Ulla Hermann was actively involved with great commitment at trade fairs and exhibitions in the family business and could shake hands with many prominent personalities.
Together with her brother Martin Hermann, Ulla Hermann continues today in the third generation the over 100 years old family tradition of manufacturing high-quality Teddy Bears and is primarily responsible in the company for production and design.
